Note | Catholic. The Pfalz was a detached part of the Kingdom of Bavaria from 1815 (the Treaty of Vienna) until the consolidation of Germany under Bismark about 1870. His birth is recorded as #88 in the civi l records in Herxheim and #83 on page 317 in the church records in Speyer. A cooper in 1870 US census where he is shown as living in the 6th Ward with a reference 1340 90. In the 1880 census he is sh own as a Rail Road employee, age 37 with six children. He would only have been 36 on July 1st, the census date. During his lifetime he started and operated a cooperage and a tavern. Theodor was the yo ungest of 11 children. The immigration record on Erie shows cert 7 October 1876, a resident of the 6th Ward; Balthasar Kern was his sponsor (4539). Erie obituary March 1, 1916. He appears in the 189 6 Nelson's biographical dictionary in Volume II, page 756 which shows his residence as 28th and Parade. He appears in the Speyer marriage chart on page 143 and his spouse on page 147. They were secon d cousins. In 1984 Gerhard Kuntz whose grandmother was an OHMER, of the Herxheim Rathaus, provided information on Theodor's ancestors and siblings. In the marriage record, in Latin, the couple is show n as Theodorus Omer and Appollonia Omer. The witnesses were Alexander Weber and Franciscia Muhl. This is recorded as N0. 25 on page 537. |
