  • Re: Will J. Ohmer
Will Ohmer is my great-grandfather. I attached a picture of Will Ohmer along with his wife, one of the Wright Brothers and Patterson. It is on the land that became Wright-Patterson AFB.

  • M. Ohmer's and sons Post office file Cabinet
Years back I was at a garage sale and discovered a tall oak file cabinet in many pieces. Fortunatly all the pieces were still there. I spent the summer reconditioning it back to it's orginal state. It has 31 seperate compartments and is fully operational. On the back of the cabinet identifies the M. Ohmer and sons co. 1915 and where it was shipped; Holland mi. What I discover it was used by the Holland post office because of old papers discovered in an open section between the doors. This is a one of a kind piece and is unbelievable. I have pictures. Sorry not for sale, just thought you would be interested in the historical value.

Dear Sara- Came across your posting regarding your home and wish for more info on Michael Ohmer cabinet and furniture maker. I'm Lisa Ohmer, married to Charles Ohmer, the great-great nephew of Michael (we live in Columbus).

There's a bit of info on the web on the company, but this link has a picture of their factory (and previous workrooms, in later pic).

Occasionally you can find their furniture online (eBay and antique showrooms), so kind of fun to do a search occasionally. If you come across a register or fare company, it's the family too. Your home is nearby the Nicholas Ohmer house (also on registry)- he was Michael's brother.

Never saw the M. Ohmer house interior, but heard has great woodwork (suppose expected :)

There's a nice article written about the family and Nicholas' house in the Dayton Daily News circa 1980. I did a recreation of it (original on microfilm) when we married 15 years ago. Could send you a copy if you let me know street address.

    Kind regards,

    Lisa Ohmer
